“Math Man,” Children’s Toy by Chula Education Professor, Won IP Champion for Product Design Patent 2024

His work, “Math Man,” a children’s toy designed to enhance early childhood understanding of mathematics, has been recognized for its innovative approach.?

The award ceremony took place at the on August 16, 2024, on the 5th floor of Samyan Mitrtown with Mr. Wutthikrai Leeviraphan, Permanent Secretary of the presiding over the event.
The event also featured an exhibition showcasing IP licensing work from Chula’s patents, presented by the CU Innovation Hub at the Chulalongkorn Pavilion booth.
“Math Man,” an innovative children’s toy developed by Assoc. Prof. Pornthep Lerttevasiri from the Division of Art Education, Department of Art, Music, and Dance Education, Faculty of Education, has won the IP Champion 2024 for Product Design Patent, awarded by the Department of Intellectual Property. The awarding ceremony took place on August 16, 2024, at Samyan Mitrtown.





“Math Man” is an innovative toy that promotes basic mathematical understanding for early childhood children through play. It uses a Modular design with a human figure that has interconnected angles, linking to various accessories such as: dragon-dancing poles for counting numbers, a boat for balancing weight, and a puzzle clock with clock hands for arranging numbers. The innovation employs slot taper joints to save production costs, making the toy unique and beautiful.
It also received the Gold Medal at and the Special Award (Gold Medal) at the 34th International Innovation & Technology Exhibition 2023 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as well as the Silver Award at Zhejiang Yunhe Wooden Toy Creative Design Competition 2021 in China.
