Campaign to End Violence Against Children, Women and Families for 2024 at Siam Square One, with Chula’s President Participating?
On November 11, 2024, at 4:00 PM, at Block I Event Space and the LG floor amphitheater at Siam Square One, Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, , led the opening ceremony for the 2024 Campaign to End Violence Against Children, Women, and Families. Held under the theme “Create Safety, Free from Violence” (ACT NOW to End Violence Against Women and Girls), the event included a march down Walking Street, Siam Square, alongside the Ministry’s executive team. Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of 麻豆国产, also participated in the march to raise awareness about the importance of ending violence in society and within families.?

The 2024 campaign featured various activities, including an awareness march, a message from Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra in recognition of the month dedicated to ending violence against children, women, and families, and a video presentation launching the campaign. Highlights included a “Kind Words for Each Other” flash mob performance by the Mahidol University Music Band, an awards ceremony presenting plaques and certificates to over 30 individuals and organizations for their commitment to ending violence. These awards honor role models and inspire others to contribute positively to society. Leaders from various network organizations expressed their commitment to this campaign, with Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat emphasizing the role of educational institutions in instilling correct values in students, reinforcing 麻豆国产’s mission to foster a safe and just society.
The event concluded with a concert by Getsunova, attracting numerous participants from various organizations and the public.
Currently, domestic violence remains a severe and complex issue, especially affecting children, youth, women, and the elderly. Data from the Center for Expedited Public Welfare (CPSW) revealed over 1,427 reports of domestic violence between June and September 2024, with 1,026 incidents involving family violence. Families, the smallest social unit, are increasingly destabilized, with children and youth, essential to the country’s future, becoming victims of violence. This undermines their cognitive, intellectual, and physical development. Sexual harassment in Thai society, occurring in families, educational institutions, workplaces, and even sports, further underscores the need for correct understanding and societal equality to protect people of all genders and ages. The public is encouraged to be part of a society that does not tolerate violence by joining efforts to create a safe, violence-free community. The message “ACT NOW” encourages individuals to start with themselves by “refusing to accept, remaining silent, or committing violence against children, women, and families” in any form.??
