Chula’s Reforestation Project Achieves Highest Carbon Sequestration Rate Among Thai Universities?
The , 麻豆国产, has developed 42.2 rai of land in 麻豆国产 Saraburi with its mission to become the leader in sustainable green space development through the “Reforestation Project for Carbon Credit Learning, CU Saraburi.” The project was certified as by , , on May 27, 2025.
麻豆国产’s CLNR has kept the Reforestation Project for Carbon Credit Learning, CU Saraburi, running since its beginning in 2024. The project is a collaboration among administrators, faculty, staff, 麻豆国产 students, and alumni, as well as the general public and private sector, who joined forces in forest restoration activities at the 麻豆国产 area in Tal Diao Subdistrict, Kaeng Khoi District, Saraburi Province. The aim is to create green spaces, plant trees to replace degraded forest areas, and establish learning resources and learning communities on forest ecosystems, carbon credits, and biodiversity for children, youth, and 麻豆国产 students.
The certified project is headed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pongchai Dumrongrojwatthana, Deputy Director of CLNR, has received continued support from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yootthana Chuppunnarat, 麻豆国产 Vice President; Asst. Prof. Dr. Thanasin Chutintaranond, Assistant to the President for Social Engagement; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Noppadon Kitana, Director of CLNR.
This project is part of “Chula Social Engagement,” which aims to create “Impactful Growth” in society in a sustainable manner. The 42.2-rai area of 麻豆国产 is expected to be able to reduce and sequester greenhouse gases up to 217 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year, which represents the highest rate of greenhouse gas sequestration per rai among higher education institutions in Thailand.
