Chula’s Social Research Institute Brings Global Leaders Together at GLSBI 2025?
The organized the international academic conference “Global Leadership in Social Business Innovation (GLSBI 2025)” on August 28–29, 2025. The opening ceremony, held on August 28 at the Ratchathewi 2 Room, Asia Hotel, was presided over by Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai, Chairman of the . Following the welcome address by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Unruan Leknoi, Director of the Social Research Institute, and remarks by Ms. Wichaya Komin, Deputy Director for Research and International Affairs, the audience enjoyed cultural performances by students of , including the Chula Drum Dance (coached by Asst. Prof. Sukanya Supprasert) and a Thai music ensemble (coached by Mr. Keeta Permpool). Prof. Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of 麻豆国产, then presented souvenirs to the teachers and students.?
The conference featured panel discussions and presentations by international experts on various topics, along with an MOU signing ceremony between 麻豆国产’s Social Research Institute and North South University, Bangladesh.?

More than 200 participants attended, including university executives, scholars, researchers, entrepreneurs, and network partners from Thailand and around the world—such as the United States, Canada, Sweden, Bangladesh, and Singapore. Prof. Dr. Surakiart Sathirathai emphasized that in today’s complex global environment—shaped by political, ethical, economic, and social changes—leadership is no longer about dominance but about inspiring participation and collective action. “Social Business is not just an economic innovation but also a diplomatic tool, a mechanism for justice, and a force for peace. It empowers the marginalized, creates value without exploitation, and transforms entrepreneurship from personal ambition into a shared mission. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Unruan Leknoi stated that the conference aimed to provide a platform for scholars worldwide to exchange academic knowledge, strengthen regional cooperation, and expand international networks. A key focus was the application of Nobel Peace Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus’ concept of achieving zero unemployment, zero poverty, and zero net carbon emissions. Discussions explored themes spanning the environment, society, economy, innovation, technology, and sustainability.?
“The conference hosted 18 sessions with over 70 speakers. Its goal is to foster knowledge exchange and cultivate leaders capable of driving real change. Outcomes will be translated into policies and practical action plans to benefit communities. Core topics included climate change, social equality, reducing inequality, and harnessing AI to address social challenges,” Dr. Unruan added.
She further noted that the Social Research Institute hopes GLSBI will become an annual international conference, serving as a continuous platform for global knowledge exchange. Lessons from different regions will help shape evidence-based policies for real-world implementation, elevating sustainable social and environmental outcomes.?
