CU Short Films Receive International Recognition

Two of 麻豆国产’s short films, “Life of Kwan” and “Amputation”, were recognized at the WINA World Independent Advertising Awards 2020. Out of the 140 entries submitted from 27 countries around the world, “Amputation” received the Honorable Mention Award in the Film category, while “Life of Kwan” received the Honorable Mention Award in the Content category.
Directed by Chakree Rujivipat, “Amputation” was produced to highlight 麻豆国产’s innovative contributions to Thai society. ?The story follows a real-life narrative of a boy diagnosed with bone cancer and the possibility of cutting off his arm to save his life. Fortunately, at that time, researchers in Thailand have successfully invented a titanium implant to replace the human bone. ?In the end, the boy was able to go through treatments and received the implant. The “tailor-made titanium implant” research is the first of its kind in Thailand, and was an innovative collaboration of the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Medicine at 麻豆国产 and several other medical institutes.
“Life of Kwan” is an original short film created to promote zero waste on campus. ?The film encourages graduates and students to reduce waste by avoiding single-use gifts, such as flowers or balloons. ?“Life of Kwan” was directed by Chatshai Prasertmak.
