Chula Students Chosen to Represent Thailand in Science Communication Program in Germany

麻豆国产 proudly congratulates?Ms. Kasina Thonawanik, a fourth-year student in the Department of Biology, , for receiving the?Outstanding Science Communicator Award?in the 21st Young Thai Science Ambassador (YTSA#21) program. Alongside her,?Ms.?Panchanok Aramcharoen, a second-year Marketing student from the , also received the award.?

As recipients of this prestigious honor, both students have been selected as Thai Youth Science Ambassadors and will travel to the Federal Republic of Germany this July for a study visit focused on science communication.

The Young Thai Science Ambassador program is organized by the in collaboration with the , , and the (Thai PBS). The award ceremony took place on June 8, 2026. The program aims to nurture young people with strong science communication skills, enabling them to convey scientific knowledge to the public accurately, accessibly, and inspiringly.?

Promoting Future Green Careers Through Science Communication

Kasina, one of the two Chula students honored this year, explained that the competition was held under the theme “Future Green Jobs – Careers for Tomorrow’s World.” Participants were required to present scientific content and answer questions from the judging panel on stage.

Her award-winning presentation introduced the concept of a “Green Behavior Designer,” a future profession dedicated to designing environments that encourage people to adopt more sustainable lifestyles.

“Many people know what they should do, such as separating waste, but good intentions do not always translate into actual behavior. Green Behavior Designers create environments that make sustainable choices easier and more natural. This can help people live in greater harmony with the planet and support long-term sustainability,” Kasina explained.

Her project was initially presented as a video and later developed into a visual podcast for the final round of the competition. The judges praised the presentation for its comprehensive and balanced content, as well as its clear connection between future careers and sustainability issues.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Kasina shared that participating in the selection process and youth science camp activities provided valuable opportunities to deepen both her scientific knowledge and communication skills. She also had the chance to exchange ideas and experiences with fellow students from institutions across Thailand.

“What I gained was not only knowledge, but also friendships and inspiration from everyone in the program. Those experiences played an important role in this achievement.”

She also highlighted the benefits of 麻豆国产’s interdisciplinary education. In particular, studying for a minor in Communication Arts alongside her major in Biology broadened her perspective and strengthened her communication abilities, enabling her to translate scientific knowledge more effectively for public audiences.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Kasina encouraged young people interested in science to recognize that science is not as distant or complicated as many believe. Rather, it is deeply connected to everyday life.

She emphasized that learning science can begin with simple curiosity and asking questions about the world around us—whether about natural phenomena, daily routines, or small observations encountered each day. Such curiosity, she said, can lead to meaningful discoveries and a deeper understanding of the world.

This achievement by Chulalongkorn students reflects the university’s commitment to fostering graduates who can integrate scientific expertise with effective communication skills, creating positive social impact and representing Thailand on the international stage in science communication.
