International Seminar on Ride-hailing Services in Southeast Asia

On 24 March 2021, the University of Tokyo held an international seminar on Ride-hailing Services in Southeast Asia.   The seminar was arranged to report the research output and achievement of the “Impacts of Disruptive Mobile Ride-Hailing Applications on Society in Southeastern Asian Countries” project, which is a collaboration of researchers from the International Research Group (IRG) in Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies (EASTS).

Associate professor Dr. Saksith Chalermpong, Deputy Director of CUTI, presented the output of his comprehensive literature review regarding ride-hailing application study in Southeast Asia.  At the same seminar, Dr. Phathinan Thaithatkul, researcher of CUTI, presented her research output regarding the ride-hailing service adoption in Bangkok, Thailand.  Additionally, research on ride-hailing service adoption in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Manila, the Philippines, were also presented by Dr. Nguyen Hoang-Tung and Professor Alexis Fillone, researchers from the university’s international research partnerships.
